Charger Sailing
Dear sailing friends,
We are now in the middle of the 2010 summer season and the IFDS Worlds is going on in Holland with over 50 boats participating, which is great.
Good luck to all of you there and may the best sailor win.
At this moment it seams like the 2.4 class is booming lots of interest from countries that have not been active in the past and many new boats to countries that have been active for years.
Fleets are growing all over the World.
10 boats in total have left to Canada where our new dealer Nature Sports Outfitters for Canada and North America has been doing a great job promoting the class.
We also have established cooperation in the Philippines and from now on Charger Composites Asia will be our Asian importer, 5 boats have found happy owner there.
In Holland our dealer Edwin Visser yachting has transferred the class from a small disabled class to a strong and firm open class with lots of very good sailors.
All in all a lot is happening in the 2.4 World at the moment and the class is getting stronger and bigger by the day.
Only negative thing at this stage is that the Euro is a bit weak which has a big impact on material and parts prices and we are therefore forced to have a price increase in the middle of the season, which is totally against our system.
Materials have increased up to 30% in some cases, and after recalculating our cost we came to the conclusion we are forced to increase our prices by 7%.
This increase will be in effect after our summer holiday which is from 17-07 until 15-08.
For orders before 15-08 we will still maintain the current price.
Happy sailing to all of you and hope to see you at the open Worlds in Hoorn.

Dear 2.4 sailors and enthusiasts,
A new year is starting again and we are all a year older and wiser.
After the last 2 years that have been dominated by the worldwide financial crisis we can now look forward to a 2010 that should start to show the signs of recovery.
Luckily our class did not seem too suffer to much from the downturn and has shown strong participant numbers at most regattas and we have been able to see a steady growth and again some new countries where 2.4 sailing is slowly starting.
Altogether, lots of reasons to look forward to a bright future of the 2.4 class.
Both the open and disabled Worlds will be held in Holland this year; the location and the fact that both Worlds are in the same country will ensure a big number of sailors at both championships.
During the open Worlds we will organize a lottery for all participants of the open Worlds.
A new Charger Norlin MKIII will be given to the winner of the lottery.
So if you were not planning on participating in the Worlds this year you might seriously want to reconsider, since every participating sailor has an equal chance to win a brand-new boat.
Another important milestone can be reached in 2010: the one design subdivision is very likely to become a fact during this season.
Attached with this letter you will find the latest one design update (pdf) from the 2.4 one design committee.
All boats are to conform to the one design rules as is mentioned in this update, the Charger Norlin MKIII is in effect the one design boat.
This year Charger Composites Asia will be a fact as well, since we will open a sales office in the Philippines to serve our Asian customers.
With an office in Asia we will also actively work on building up the 2.4 class in Asian countries which will really help the growth of the class. The first 5 boats where delivered in the Philippines before Christmas.
All together 2010 promises to become a positive and interesting year for the 2.4 class and Charger Composites.
We wish you all a happy new year and look forward to meeting many of you this summer.

Charger Composites.

In January a container with 10 brand new Charger Norlin MkIII’s built under vacuum infusion with a core of Soric honeycomb.
All these boats will be built according to the new one design rule, so when the rule gets approved by ISAF they will measure as a one design.

Charger Composites newsletter November 2008

The summer on the northern hemisphere has come to an end again. Looking back we can conclude that the 2.4 class is going strong with a fantastic fight for Gold at the Paralympics won by Paul Tingly from Canada and the Open Worlds in Las Palmas won by Stellan Berlin from Sweden as the highlights of the season.
We at Charger Composites want to take this opportunity to congratulate both these great champions.
At the AGM in Las Palmas the new one design proposal got approved unanimously, in our opinion a historical moment for the 2.4 class.
Charger Composites has now started the production of their Norlin MkIII 2.4 according to the new one design rules.
So every boat build from now on will be approved as a one design when the one design class gets its official start.
Because of higher material prices and increased wages we are forced to raise our prices by 5% from the 1st of January 2009.
